A Real Home by the Sea
Welcome to my Plymouth apartment.
This is not a generic holiday rental designed by an interior designer who bought every cushion in the same shade of grey.
This is a real home.
There are books everywhere. Evidence that an actual human lives here. Some of those books I have probably promised myself to read since 2017.
When I travel, I rent out my own home because I love the old-fashioned idea of people helping each other explore the world. Before your arrival, you will receive a full 3D virtual tour and detailed information so there are no surprises — except perhaps how quickly Plymouth weather can change.

The Underground Parking Space
In Plymouth, having an allocated underground parking space is basically like owning a small kingdom.
It saves money, stress, and approximately fourteen years of searching for parking in the city centre.
Balcony & Sea View
The balcony is honestly my favourite place in the apartment.
Morning coffee with sea air. Evening sunsets. Ships passing by.
Occasionally a large vessel glides past looking slightly too close for comfort, but don’t worry — this is perfectly normal in Plymouth.
Eventually, you start recognising them like neighbours:
“Ah yes, the big blue one is back again.”
Digital Nomads Welcome
There is a dedicated workspace in the bedroom, usually fitted with two workstations and four monitors, so hopefully there will still be enough room for your laptop.

And, perhaps most importantly:

For those moments when you realise at 10 PM that you’ve forgotten milk, wine, or both.
For Open Water Swimmers
If you enjoy sea swimming, you’re in a fantastic location.
Nearby favourites include:
- West Hoe Beach
- Devil’s Point
The local swimming community is welcoming and friendly.
They will happily explain tides, recommend routes, and assure you that:
“The water is actually quite warm today.”
In Plymouth sea-swimmer language, “warm” can mean anything above medically concerning.
Honest Things You Should Know
School Nearby
There is a school next door, so occasionally children become temporarily powered by nuclear energy during lunch breaks.
Weekend Atmosphere
On weekends you may hear people returning from pubs and restaurants.
Usually nothing dramatic — mostly enthusiastic discussions about kebabs at 1 AM.
Building Noises
During strong winds you may occasionally hear noises from inside the bedroom wall.
Nothing dangerous.
Many years ago I asked a neighbour:
“Do you have noises in your walls?”
The expression on his face suggested I had accidentally started the plot of a horror movie.
The walls are fine. Probably.
